Andy Best studied a MFA at Chelsea School of Art, London in 2007. Exhibitions include Tate Britain (How We May Be, 2007), The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (Primavera, 2009), the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Zebradorf, 2018), The Tsagaandarium Museum (Formal Intensity: Australian Art Today, 2012), Manifestina, Zurich (Some Demonstrations, 2016), The National Gallery of Victoria (2004: Australian Culture Now), The Heide Museum of Modern Art (Perfect For Every Occasion: Photography Today, 2007), the Michael West Gallery (2007) and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces (2005). Other exhibitions include the Art Gallery of South Australia (2006), Greenaway Art Gallery (2009), The Contemporary Art Centre of SA (2010), Stills Gallery (2006), The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (2012), and the Australian Experimental Art Foundation (2006).
Best was awarded an Anne & Gordon Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship, studying in London. He co-founded Downtown, an artist-run space in a disused dodgem rink. His work has been featured in Time Magazine, Artlink, Photofile, Australian Art Collector, and Foam Magazine, and is represented in private collections in the UK, the USA, Europe, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates, including Artbank, the Absolut Vodka Collection, the Collection of the Australian Embassy in Berlin, and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
